Can I practice meditation along with asanas?
Proper functioning of the body depends on various limbs. Patanjali described these as Ashtanga Yoga, i.e., eight limbs of yoga steps. Meditation comes in the seventh stage which means, a person has to prepare himself ready by practicing all the six limbs of Ashtanga Yoga perfectly and then only his body and mind will be adequately ready for the state of Meditation. Yoga practice makes physical discipline of the practitioner, of which leads to the other stage of Ashtanga Yoga.

Yoga practice can be started for a period of one hour in the beginning, daily. After familiarising the asanas with perfection and sequences, one can perform for any longer period which will not harm the health instead it extends the physical life and helps to achieve the serenity in his inner self.
How does Yoga practice differ from physical exercise?
All types of exercises have two features, namely Motion and Action. Asanas, regulates the blood circulation in the entire body, as every pose is a complete entity in which each part of the body has a particular role to play. Asanas are full of dynamic action throughout the physical body. No portion of the body or the mind is left untouched when an asana is carefully and perfectly performed. Asanas develop body consciousness and also internal consciousness and stabilise the mind.
